Presentation about activism at Faculty Day Poster Competition

On June 9, the Faculty of Education in Science and Technology held its research poster competition, and doctoral student Mania Borzenko represented our lab.
Her poster, “Activism on a Leash: National Education Policy Framing of Youth Activism in Australia, England, and the US,” examines how education authorities construct youth activism in K-12 policy across these three countries. Using critical discourse analysis and a narrative policy framework applied to 31 documents spanning 15 years, the research reveals consistent patterns across all three countries: education policies tend to frame activism as service-oriented rather than political, individual rather than collective, and adult-led rather than youth-governed.

Congratulations to Mania on her participation! It was also a great opportunity to see presentations from across the faculty and strengthen connections within the institution.
