Prof. Miri Yemini appointed Chief Scientist of Israel’s Ministry of Innovation, Science and Technology

We are thrilled to announce that Prof. Miri Yemini, head of People&Planet Lab, has been appointed as the Chief Scientist of Israel’s Ministry of Innovation, Science and Technology. The appointment was approved by the government following a comprehensive selection process, with Prof. Yemini chosen unanimously by the search committee as the most qualified candidate for this key position. Minister Gila Gamliel praised Prof. Yemini as a groundbreaking scientist with extensive management experience who will shape national priorities in innovation, science, and technology.

In her new role, Prof. Yemini will be responsible for directing the Ministry’s scientific activities, establishing national scientific priorities, strengthening domestic and international scientific infrastructure, and fostering strategic collaborations between government, academia, and industry. The selection committee highlighted her multidisciplinary expertise, proven leadership in creating partnerships, strategic vision, and deep understanding of the innovation and research challenges facing the Ministry.
